This weekend at the Sacarappa Dog Obedience Club Trial in Portland Maine, Dalmatians did very well.

Corey - CT GCh Blackthorn Coreopis of PatchMt RA OA NAJ RD - qualified with placements in all his classes - Rally Excellent and Beginner Novice on both Saturday and Sunday. That gives him his Beginner Novice title and his first 2 legs towards his Rally Excellent title.

On Saturday and Sunday Mel and Eva qualified in both their Rally Novice A class. I am a poor Grandmother because I don't know Eva's registered name, but I am so proud of how well they have done on their new ventures in the obedience ring.

and today Dawn Eliot-Johnson and Lollipop won their Rally Advanced A class with a wonderful performance. That was their first leg towards that title.

And, many thanks to the great Rally Judge, Nanci Hayes.

Wonderful time had by all!

Litter Evaluation

Thank you to Linda McCartney-Roy and Ann Smith for making the trek to Maine for the litter evaluation.  We are happy to announce that all are now spoken for and new homes notified.  Bearing in mind the difference between "showable" and "show potential", we are pleased that all show potential puppies are going to show/performance homes. And we have some very wonderful pet homes for those that are just not strong enough contenders to be shown.  Looking forward to watching these pups mature to their full potential.

Diggy Diggy

A picture of learning to dig in the dirt and a video of learning to run through the agility tunnel

Good BAER News

The litter went to the Animal Referral Center in South Portland yesterday for their BAER hearing test.  Good news - There were 8 bilateral hearig (all ears work) and one Unilateral hearing (only one ear worked).  There were no deaf puppies i nthis litter and we couldn't be more pleased.  Looks like we only have one puppy - a liver girl - with a blue eye.  No patches.  Good numbers all around!!

Puppy Feeding Time - Outside!

Puppy Feeding Time!  A messy affair, when possible it is easier to feed them outside.  Now if they would just not PLAY in the food dish!

Puppies at 5 weeks

The latest litter news is the exciting puppies at Linda McSherry's - Patch Mountain Dalmatians.  Violet was bred to CH Avalon's Taylormade by Paisley - Taylor.  Our very good friend Ann Smith of Mapleaf Dalmatian is also a co-breeder of this litter.  Having a Taylor son or daughter has long been a "dream" for Ann and Linda was excited to let Violet have this last litter.

This breeding used frozen semen from the 1990's.  Timing for conception is critical with this type of breeding and we are extremely grateful to Slade Veterinary Hospital in Framingham Mass for making this happen.  Their staff is wonderful to work with and knows what it takes to have such success.

We have 9 puppies.  This is  a very nice sized litter considering Violet is 7 and it was a frozen breeding.  There are 5 boys, 1 liver and 4 blacks; 4 girls, 3 livers and 1 black.  No patches.

Inquires for pet and show homes are welcome.

I do need to do an official announcement, but wanted to wait to see how things progress.

We have ended up with just 2 puppies, 1 boy, 1 girl, both livers. The girl is fat and doing wonderful, the boy we would say is holding his own. Time will tell. Now, to wait and see on eye color and hearing before we decide if either are show quality, or if they both will be available to pet homes. We are also in the process of doing another breeding, and should have those puppies in late June for people who want to remain on our list.

I will do a better follow up and posts when we are better able to access the puppies. In the meantime you can see posted pictures at Dawn Eliot-Johnson's Facebook wall.
